Poetry By Marckie | His Brief Story...
Let the ink bleed...
Born and raised in the south Bronx section of New York City, Marckie didn't start his life in the best of environments. During this time, the drug epidemic severely hurt the people of NYC, along with the country. Neighborhoods in turmoil, foster care abuse, and a close family member falling victim to the epidemic are just some of the traumatic experiences Marckie endured. Thankfully, the family somewhat rebounded, but the pain of the past remained. It was during this time when school, basketball, and words began to serve as an escape.
In 1996, his family moved to Orlando, FL, which resulted in a culture shock. Adding to this would be an uneasy family dynamic and an unresolved past. As time progressed, there came marriage, the birth of a son, daughter, and divorce. Not understanding how to cope with and process the downs of life, trials and tribulations ensued. A complete reprogramming of the mind was necessary to get back on track. In addition, Marckie's prior obsession with poetry began to resurface.
Today, the poetry provides him with two purposes, with the first one being THERAPY. Writing provides a productive outlet and an airtight way to channel the turmoil and pain from the past and present. The second, and more important purpose, is for you, the reader. If you happen to be going through something in life, hopefully some of this content will help you get through your day.
