Broken Parental Code

Synopsis: Sometimes disagreements occur in the world of co-parenting. This poem describes a small problem.
The audacity you have to let another make plans
To take my son somewhere without you checking with the man
Since you're filled with bias, calling you I could not do
Plus, talking to you is like, well...talking to you
If the shoes were switched, I would check with you, first
Yes, it's understood that us parents can do worse
You're also a good mom, but recognize your quirks
This misstep of yours created a mild anger that for sure lurked
My backbone will never allow me to deal with the fuckery
Expect met to react; put that on the one and only son of me
What'd you foresee? Of course, I had to pay him a visit
But, no reason to fret, because I was far from livid
All I needed was to look him in his spirit
And let him know I'm their dad and I deserve some merit
He avoided that conversation to my surprise, I must confess
As long as he got the message, I'll consider it a success
