Missed Graduation

Synopsis: Regrets are most successfully handled when one learns how to live with them. This poem is about one of those regrets.
Like a DJ trying to find the right song
I'm searching for the right words to write my wrong
Best way is to keep it raw like Ali Wong
With the sheer hope of better days coming along
I should of shown non-resistance, but resist, I did
Over petty family quarrels, behind the pride I hid
So, I missed your high school graduation; that was ill
A piss poor example of one exercising free will
There was one cause for how our relationship went
It was me; no other choice but to keep it 100 percent
I was wrong for not celebrating your hard work and effort
Never was it my intention for you to get hurt
Momentarily holding my breath with air to no avail
I apologize for my absence; there's my cue to exhale
Now, you're using creative imagination; developing a 6th sense
Proud of you, bro; that remains current, never past tense
