My Insecurity

Synopsis: This is about young love and how an age difference may have played a part. Add to that an insecurity and the rest is history.
We met when I was 18; you were 5 years my senior
But we connected well and you felt my demeanor
So, we hopped the magic carpet and went for a flight
It wasn't long before you saw something wasn't right
An insecurity developed and began to grow like mold
Never were you the cause; just thought you should be told
I increasingly thought you would leave me
You assured me you would only bolt if need be
Hard to shake that feeling, I pushed your limit toward the ceiling
Lost hope for any healing; your open heart began sealing
I'm as sick as my secrets which is why I abuse the pen
Writing about it is where my therapy can best stem
I can see now the raw power of thought
And how negative thinking can lead to feelings of distraught
I apologize and it was an honor to be with you
You held us together as long as you could; you were the glue
