Needed No House

Synopsis: 40% of disagreements between partners can be attributed to money. Add a new house to the mix and you're looking at a perfect storm.
Silly me for satisfying your desire to live more lofty
My mistake was being afraid of your attitude turning frosty
Mr. Softie, that was me, but I hardened up through fate
Better decisions are being made on this new date
It's high risk if you can't KISS it; Keep It Simple, Sweetheart
We needed no house, but I failed to be smart
Never kept up with the Joneses; I can do without acclaim
But that's the type of thing that makes your heart go aflame
It's clear what you're attracted to; there's no denial
It's not NASA mathematics; it's not a college final
After moving in, I wanted to go back to school; get ahead
Told you of those plans and your face went dead
I lost, but I'm proud like I play for San Diego State
Had trouble saying no; backbone contained no weight
Can't use old money habits to handle new money problems
New habits formed; new ways devised to solve them
