Way Too Fast

Synopsis: Guy tries to move too fast and girl doesn't like it. It's the bad side of the high school days.
Once I saw it, it was already accomplished; how so?
Well, how can you learn something you think you know?
I put up a front upon trying to confront
Call it a secret despair; never intended to affront
You told most guys to disappear; so your name became Poof
To protect your soul, your heart shifted to flameproof
Did I pay attention to your feelings? Nope, I was oblivious
The gross lack of patience made me look hideous
My unreal expectations did nothing but cause a torment
Next thing you know, Poof! A beautiful thing forwent
Time wasn't given to allow a fruitful relationship to ripen
That's on me; somehow my perspective couldn't widen
Can't use high school to signify; my thinking had to crystallize
It could of been simplified, but you were borderline victimized
Self-criticizing helps with feeling a little more dignified
Regardless of what I symbolized, you always were legitimized
