Poetry by Marckie-Rhyming Free Verse Poetry-Landscape Phone
If you're reading on your phone, hold it in the landscape position to maintain the format of the poem.
Weighty lines written within your debut album in '89
Refused at first, but you kept on the daily grind
They said you couldn't in a genre dominated by men
You blew Tejano music out the water, time and time again

With a voice so fresh and a smile that caused nirvana
It's no wonder they labeled you the Tejano Madonna
The soundtrack to umpteen girl parties themed in pajamas
As they grabbed hair brushes and engulfed in mirages

"Dreaming of You" had us in our feelings for a while
Even the wild ones turned mild; you put emotion in style
"I Could Fall In Love" just added to the pile
Fans were scrambling, scanning for you on the radio dial

Then the music stopped, but only for a second
You got hated on in the worst way; gone went a legend
And even though the stock in music has lessened
You'll always be the Queen of Tejano Music; no question
