My First Supporter

Synopsis: The support of a significant other can easily light the fire of motivation. This was the beginning of the poetry bug.
Initially, my poems were written to get you kissing me
Literally, every moment apart had me missing "we"
Riddle to me; your support for my words had me whistling free
Instantly, you became sweet like ice cream from Twistee Treat
You brought to light a talent I never knew I kept
Wrote something for your friend in which she read and wept
Still slept on my skill; guess I didn't get the hint
I didn't write for some time; ironically that was a bad stint
The writing began again and it was a sudden shock
The ink flowed smooth; rarely was there writer's block
Add to that newfound support; it's like opportunity knocked
Now comes the epiphany as my current world is rocked
At one point, I feared criticism; that was my Achilles heel
It's enlightening how this new therapy has made me feel
Similar to the thrill of a basketball going through a basket
To my first supporter: Won't stop writing until they drop my casket
